Hi, I’m Sarah. I’m your basic 20-something. I instagram pictures of my food. I think I have the best taste in music. My love life is tragic. I have a semi-useless degree from a private liberal arts university. I used said liberal arts degree to gallivant around the world for a bit. I backpacked across Europe. I spent two years serving as a Peace Corps volunteer in Mozambique. I traveled throughout Southern Africa. I partied in Southeast Asia and “found myself” in India. Now I’m a broke, idealistic (soon to be) grad student with too much knowledge and too much debt. I ask myself what the hell I’m doing on a daily basis. My thoughts are typically consumed with what I’m going to eat at my next meal. See? We’re essentially the same person.

Lucky for you, I’ve got a lot to say. I like to write about all sorts of things, from food to travel to religion and philosophy. Sometimes my posts are silly and short. Sometimes they are long and intense. Sometimes they’re just pictures. Basically, I use this blog as my own personal webspace (hence the name Sarahland) to share some of my life with you. Welcome!

  1. Hi Sarah!

My name is Tess. I was reading over your blogs and couldn’t help but notice how similar we are! I am trying to get the ball rolling on my blog and I was just wondering how you find inspiration on things to post? Is it just about stuff in your daily life? Also, how to you get followers? Maybe it’s just the blog site I use (I use Weebly) or maybe I am just dumb, but I can’t seem to figure out how to allow people to follow me or subscribe to my blog. P.S. I really like the layout of your blog! Hope to hear from you :)

    • Tess,

Thanks so much, glad to have you as a reader! A lot of blogging advice columns tell you to pick one topic/specialty to write about – I have obviously thrown that rule out the window. I started blogging because writing helps me process, so I just write about things that inspire me, or things I need to work through in my life. I also wanted to stake out a little corner of the internet that I could call my own, a place where I can experiment with my presentation of self outside of the constraints of other social media platforms.

As far as getting followers goes, I know a lot of my followers are my friends, but some of them are people who just have a similar outlook on life and similar interests. WordPress lets you tag your posts with words that will show up in search engines, and I think that helps a lot. If weebly has a feature like this, definitely use it!

I would love to read your blog, feel free to post the link here. Best of luck to you!
